Inbound Marketing At Its Finest

Inbound Marketing At Its Finest

As I am typing this post, I realize there is candle wax on my keyboard, and I have no idea where it came from… With that being said, I have been following a gentleman by the name of Kipp Bodnar, an extremely educated man in the marketing niche, who has inspired me to share some of his insights on the current state of the internet marketing world. Reading through these, I am both shocked and not surprised in the slightest. Take a few moments to check out The 10 Insane (but true) Things About Marketing Online!

1. By 2023, more than half the dollars spent on retail in the US will be influenced by the web

This tells me two things, first it means to put myself in the way of those dollars, and 2 it tells me to put myself in the way of those dollars!!! The markets are shifting more and more to online, make sure you have a method to easily sell your product or service online.

2. Email opens on smartphones & tablets have increased 80% of the last 6 month period

With the masses of people literally chaining their cellphone to their wrist, it is obvious email opens will have increased. I urge you to make sure your emails are optimized for mobile

3. 64% of smartphone users are using their mobile to purchase online.

Once again, society has these things handcuffed to their wrists, and they are purchasing from them. If you are a selling of goods/services, make sure everything is optimized for mobile.

4. 20% of Facebook users have purchased something because of ads or comments they were exposed to.

There are over 1 billion people using the social platform. Facebook has become so large, it is a verb… “I am just going to Facebook this video I saw.” – does that even make any sense?! Regardless, there are 1 billion people you can market to!! Use both paid and organic methods to drive traffic to your offer

5. US Consumers Send 2.304 Trillion Texts per year.

That is a stupid number. That is over 2,000 billion text messages. If you are marketing to heavy texters, maybe look at using a text message optin as part of your campaign.

6. 17% of Twitters top 1000 search terms, churn over every hour.

All this means is, post more frequently, and focus on timely content. But remember, do not get TOO consumed in social media – it is merely one avenue for your marketing campaigns.

7. 21% of TV’s shipped in Q1 of 2012, had internet connectivity.

Internet connectivity, is now somewhat a standard in all devices these days. Remember bunny ears, and having to realign them when the signal was fuzzy? Gone are those days! Plan on how this increase of internet TV’s, may disrupt your campaigns. Be ahead of the curve.

8. On average, companies normally only respond to around 30% of customer feedback online

In this day and age of automation, customer engagement is rare – stand out from the crowd and interact with your customers on social media. Trust me, it goes a LOOONGG way!! Have you ever had a company go above and beyond for you, its a great feeling isn’t it? Why don’t you take that same logic of personal interaction, and apply it to your strategy.

9. The average tablet user, spends around 13.9 hours a week on the device

All this tells me, is people are getting addicted to these things, and it is time to capitalize! The tablet is now becoming the “new” laptop – structure your marketing accordingly!

10. YouTube users watch over 3billion hours per month.

Video is becoming a large part of the online experience! When integrating video into your inbound marketing strategy, be sure to keep length in mind. Most successful videos online are less than 2 minutes long, production value is not the main concern here – but more so length.

Conclusion.

Marketing is an ever growing beast, that is constantly changing and evolving. One of the biggest methods to staying ahead of the curve, is seeing what is coming down the pipe, and building your strategies around that. From the above 10 insane (but true) things about marketing online, you can see that more and more people are heading in the direction of mobile! Place yourselves accordingly, and watch the sales grow! Which one of these stats was most surprising for you? Shoot me a comment, I’d love to hear from ya! Take it and run with it.
